About Sapphireblue Birmans
|

Sapphireblue is a small cattery located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We maintain a small
number of Birmans to ensure that all of our cats are happy, healthy, and receive a lot
of individualized attention and love. Our Birmans share their home with a chocolate
Labrador Retriever, an Alaskan Malamute, and our family.
I first fell in love with the Birman breed after purchasing a book about the various
breeds of cats. I came across a picture of a Birman and I was in awe! It was the
most beautiful cat I had ever seen. I proceeded to learn more about Birmans and
decided that I had to bring this magnificent breed into our lives.
Our first Birmans came to live with us in 2003. We chose the name “Sapphireblue”
for our cattery, because of a Birman’s dazzling sapphire blue colored eyes. Since that
time our Birman family has grown, including the addition of some top Australian lines
from Shakandah Birmans in December of 2004, and again in January of 2006. We
have also always loved the look of Pleasantview Birmans. Our dreams came true in
November of 2005 when a litter of 4 kittens was born out of GC, RW Pleasantview X,
Drugs, & Rock N Roll, DM to our beautiful blue point female, CH Russpurrz Bella.
This "dream litter" produced GC, RW Sapphireblue Center Ice and GC Sapphireblue
Charisma.
We are always striving to produce a Birman with excellent type and one that best
meets the written Birman breed standard. We actively show our Birmans in the Cat
Fanciers Association and attend shows in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions.
Attending cat shows, we feel, is an integral part of being a breeder. Our goal is to not
only produce beautiful, healthy, and outgoing Birmans that make wonderful family
pets, but also Birmans that do well in the show hall.
In order to produce well socialized and extremely affectionate kittens, we do not
believe in raising many litters of kittens at one time. We usually have one, and
sometimes two litters in our home at once. And those two litters are usually a couple
of months apart in age.
Sapphireblue kittens are lovingly raised underfoot and are handled daily from birth,
which results in a very well socialized and people loving cat! Pet kittens are placed
with much emphasis on temperament and health. We always welcome questions or
inquiries regarding our Birmans. If you would like to discuss the possibility of
adopting one of the most friendly, loving, and beautiful cats you could ever own,
please feel free to contact us.
